Primary Memory vs. Secondary Memory

If you still remember, from my previous blog about the Von Neumann Architecture, the last part of its theoretical framework is a memory unit composed of Primary Memory: Random Access Memory (RAM): Read Only Memory (RAM) and the Secondary Memory.

Basically, the primary memory is the main memory of the computer directly accessible by the processor/CPU while the secondary memory is where bulks of data are being stored permanently. To provide you with better comparison, check out the image bellow.

I hope the detailed comparison above helped your confusion about the primary memory and the secondary memory of a computer. Huge thanks to TechDifferences(2017) for the information about the topic. Learning never stops, everyone.

See you in my next blog!
